COMPANY HISTORY

Spectral Audio Möbel GmbH was founded by the three brothers Frank, Heiko and Markus Krämer in 1994. After several failed projects, such as developing halogen lamps, motorised skateboards and Perspex speakers, the three mechanical engineering students and passionate inventors decided to produce hi-fi racks. A wise decision, as it soon turned out.
 
The first item of Krämer furniture was born in their father’s garage. KONKAV was the first Spectral rack that was ready to go into series production and it can still be found in the product range today. After the initial sales success and the expansion of the model range came the construction of the company’s first hall with production facilities and administrative offices in Bietigheim, Swabia, in 1999. The foundations had now been laid for further growth. The three Krämer brothers already had around 60 employees in 2003 and further conversions, add-ons and expansions followed.
 
In 2005, Spectral took the industry by surprise with an unusual and brave market appearance. Instead of showing its high quality furniture in a traditional living environment, Spectral placed its racks, helves and stands in rustic bare brickwork buildings. The idea behind the new look: FIRST THINGS FIRST® and the related appeal to customers, asking them to set priorities when decorating their own homes. The market responded enthusiastically to the new concept. For Spectral, it was the beginning of a new era.
 
Another production and warehouse site followed in 2006 with factory 2 in Pleidelsheim, just a few kilometres away. More product innovations and groundbreaking changes in marketing and sales followed in the same year, moving Spectral even further forward on the road to becoming Germany’s number one.
 
Today, Spectral is one of the most successful A/V furniture specialists in Europe, has 160 employees and exports to 40 countries around the world. The company founders attribute the secret of its success to two Swabian phrases that their father gave them:
 
• “Work, don’t talk!”
• “Make things as simple as possible, it’ll get complicated all by itself!”
 
In other words: Swabian hard graft and highly functional design – assets that are at the top of Spectral’s list today.
